THE investigation into the drive-by assassination of Sbongiseni Msimang on the John Ross Parkway on 17 October has been escalated and has been taken over by a provincial task team.
Msimang was gunned down driving to Richards Bay, reportedly on his way to make a witness statement at the police station.
At his funeral last Saturday, a letter he had written prior to his death implicated a medical doctor and detectives are following this line of investigation, among others.
