ONE security guard is dead and another was wounded after being ambushed at around 10pm by suspected diesel thieves at a construction site near Empangeni last night.
The Zululand Observer can at this stage confirm the guards were stationed at the Murray and Robert’s construction site close to Bridge E on the N2 between Empangeni and Mtunzini.
It is believed an unknown number of armed men snuck up on the guards and opened fire, wounding both, one fatally.
The owner of the security company was not immediately available for comment.
