Bloody fight as drug deal goes pear-shaped

It is alleged that the pair attempted to purchase drugs from a wooden kiosk

AN alleged drug deal gone wrong ended in a bloodbath on Tuesday in the Meerensee CBD when a suspected dealer first attacked one of his ‘clients’ with a bottle, whereafter the two buyers turned on each other.

It is alleged that the pair attempted to purchase drugs from a wooden kiosk, but the transaction abruptly went pear-shaped during the exchange.

The dealer suddenly attacked one of the men with a bottle, causing open head wounds, whereafter the second buyer also joined in.

The buyers continued the fight behind the Meerensee Clinic until Northern Region Protection Services (NRPS) arrived on the scene.

David Pretorius of NRPS, who broke up the fight, says the men appeared intoxicated and delusional.

Meerensee CPF members arrived and called for SAPS back-up, while IPSS Emergency Services treated the victims on the scene and stitched up the open wounds.

The injured men were transported to Ngwelezana Hospital, where they are believed to have been picked up later by police and taken to Richard Bay police station for questioning.
