Bush knife attacker’s sentence shocks residents

Residents unhappy about bush knife attacker's sentence

THE sentencing of a bush knife attacker who seriously injured two of his relatives on Christmas Day in 2014, caused a commotion at the eSikhawini District Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Mfundo Nsibande (22) was sentenced to a R10 000 fine and a six year suspended sentence.

eSikhaleno residents voiced their dissatisfaction over the sentence, saying Nsibande deserved to spend time behind bars. ‘After he injured his elders in such a vicious manner, he deserves to at least spent months in prison,’ said an eSikhaleni resident.

Nsibande had been charged with two counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after he brutally hacked his two uncles with a bush knife in the Ndindima Reserve following a dispute.
