THE Ingwavuma Regional Court last Friday sentenced Khulekani Zakhele Mthembu (20) to life imprisonment for car hijacking, possession of an unlicensed firearm and attempted murder.
Mthembu was arrested on 8 August last year in the S’khemelele area, Manguzi Reserve, for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
When police approached him, he shot at them, but no one was injured in the incident.
At the time of his arrest, Mthembu was out on bail for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The court found him guilty on all three counts.
