Motorists were greeted with a cheerful smile during the stop and search

ENDING off women’s month celebrations on a positive note, female law enforcement officers and representatives from various government departments greeted motorists at roadblocks on Wednesday with a cheerful smile, an encouraging word and distributed pamphlets on domestic violence.

The ‘stop and search’ roadblocks formed part of the ‘Operation Besadi’ campaign, which addresses matters such as domestic violence, substance abuse and sexual offences.

Joining in the campaign were Richards Bay SAPS, uMhlathuze Traffic Services, Richards Bay Operational Response Services, Department of Home Affairs, Local Criminal Record Centre and the Richards Bay Community Policing Forum.
