eSikhaleni clinic under fire

eSikhaleni residents fed up about poor hygiene at Phaphamani Clinic

ESIKHALENI residents say germs, filth and exposed medical waste rule the town’s Phaphamani Clinic.

Fed up patients complain about what they call ‘poor health conditions’ at the clinic.

‘You can’t even see where to sit because of all the dirt in the passages and waiting rooms. The single toilet, used by both males and females, are even worse,’ said one resident.

‘We are expected to use this dirty toilet which is also used for storing medical equipment. On Monday all patients had to undergo a urine test and share the toilet.

‘It’s just filthy, This at a health department facility where people should be taught about hygiene,’ the resident said.

‘I was there with my mother to get her medication, but I am sure it’s not all we got. That place is a disaster and sooner or later people will be killed because the management fails to enforce simple rules of hygiene,’ said Thoko Dube of J1 section.

Approached for comment, the clinic has not responded by the time of going to print.
