GALLERY: Three critical as trucks collide on N2

THREE Department of Transport (DOT) workers are in a critical condition after the small construction truck they were travelling in collided with a larger construction truck on the N2 just before the Nseleni River Bridge outside Empangeni.

The DOT truck rear-ended the larger truck before veering across two lanes of oncoming traffic before coming to a stop against a tree. The accident occurred at around 4pm this afternoon.

All three occupants of the DOT truck were trapped inside the cabin and could only be freed once City of uMhlathuze firefighters used the Jaws of Life to cut away the doors.

Mounties EMS and KZN EMS transported the patients to hospital.
