Burst pipe affects water supply

Aquadene and Brackenham residents left without water as pipe repair gets underway

CITY of uMhlathuze plumbers battled for hours to restore water supply to Richards Bay suburbs Aquadene and Brackenham after a burst pipe left residents without water on Thursday and Friday.

Schools in the suburbs also suspended classes on Friday.

According to city spokesperson Mdu Ncalane, staff worked around the clock to fix the problem.

‘It happened at night. Water tankers were dispatched to the affected areas and people were also able to collect water from the jojo tanks installed in the suburbs.

The water supply was restored late on Friday night.
