Teacher’s remains found in shallow grave

His disappearance sparked a frenzied search by relatives

A MATSHANA Reserve father’s desperate search for his beloved son came to a sad end on Thursday when the 27-year-old teacher’s remains were discovered in a shallow grave with a rope tied around his neck and arms.

Nhlakanipho Zungu, a teacher of Port Shepstone, went missing on 29 May while spending the weekend in Matshana attending a family funeral.

His vehicle was later found overturned near the Richards Bay quarry, but there was no sign of him.

His disappearance sparked a frenzied search by relatives.

Although DNA testing is being conducted, a family friend, Mandisa Sikakane, said remains found near the quarry was believed to be Zungu’s after his family identified clothing he was wearing on the day of his disappearance.

The case is being investigated by the Mtunzini police.
