Double kidnapping in Jozini

Two cases of kidnapping were opened at Jozini SAPS but no arrests have yet been made.

A HUGE manhunt is underway following the abduction of two Jozini residents in seperate incidents last week.

Police are searching for the whereabouts of Jabu Thembelihle Maziya (32) after she was apparently kidnapped by two unknown men at Hlokohloko area last Tuesday.

According to the police statement, the victim was in her vehicle at about 7pm when suspects forced her out of the driver’s seat and drove away with her still inside their car.

On Wednesday, police also responded to a call at 11pm after Petros Gumede was abducted from his home at Mboza area.

Police said the suspects firstly requested to speak to his wife, Nozipho Cynthia Gumede, however she refused to come out.

‘Nozipho claimed it was too late, instead her husband went outside to talk to the men,’ said SAPS media officer Capt Jabulani Mdletshe.

According to Mdletshe, three gunshots were fired before the suspects forced the victim into their car and drove away.

Two cases of kidnapping were opened at Jozini SAPS but no arrests have yet been made.

These two incidents have instilled fear into community members who now believe they are not safe in their own houses.

Police have requested for anyone who might have information that will lead to the location of the victims, and arrest of the suspects, to contact the Jozini Station Commander Colonel Gumede on 035 5723600.
