WITH the wind dropping significantly on Wednesday morning, the rough seas off the coast of Zululand also flattened.
High tide at Alkantstrand (9am) saw large swells, but no fierce waves as had been expected.
Sharks Board members braved the conditions to replace shark nets that had been washed away, while surfers eyed the water with anticipation of big winter waves later in the day.
