Truck crashes through Empangeni intersection

Witnesses allege the accident occurred after the truck skipped a red light

EMPANGENI motorists narrowly escaped disaster when a flatbed tow truck collided with a security vehicle at the Frank Bull and R34 intersection in Empangeni earlier today.

Upon collision the truck rolled, climbing the nearby embankment before coming to a stop almost 100 metres away.

According to witnesses on the scene, the accident occurred after the truck reportedly skipped a red light.

Fortunately, the two occupants of the truck and the driver of the security vehicle sustained only minor injuries, and were transported to Ngwelezana Hospital for treatment.

Police have yet to identify the cause of the incident and have launched an investigation.
