The search continues for missing persons

THE KwaMsane police is still searching for a mentally disabled teen who has disappeared in the Myeki area, Mtubatuba on 20 June.

According to Captain Jabulani Mdletshe, the 16-year-old Nonjabula Mathunjwa was last seen by her grandmother.
She was wearing an orange T-shirt and a black skirt.

Anyone with the information that might help in locating Nonjabula or have any information regarding her disappearance, is urged to contact Investigating Officer, Cst Buthelezi on 035 5519030 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

• The eSkihawini police is still searching for a 14-year-old boy who was kidnapped at gunpoint from his homestead in the Port Durnford Reserve, eSikhaleni in February.

According to SAPS Communication Officer, Lieutenant TG Mkhumane, the missing child, Nhlanhla Melusi Gumede, was last seen on 13 February at a communal water tap near his home at around 7.15pm.

According to reports, he was kidnapped at gunpoint by five male suspects and taken away in a green vehicle of unknown model and make.

He was never seen again and was reported missing by his mother, Fikile Zandile Tembe.

The police are investigating a case of kidnapping. Nhlanhla is a Grade 7 pupil at Mhlanga School in Port Durnford.

Nomthandazo Lungile Ntsele (20) went missing from her home at Ngwelezane on the morning of March 2012 at about 9am and never returned.

Ntsele is of medium built, 1.3m tall and was wearing a navy blue denim skirt, black shoes and a pink T-shirt.

Empangeni SAPS is appealing to the community to come forward with any information on Ntsele’s whereabouts.

• The uncle of Nhlakanipho Zungu (27), a Port Shepstone teacher who has been missing since Sunday, 29 May, says there is still no sign of him.

Nhlakanipho was home for the weekend to attend a family funeral.

His vehicle was found overturned near the Richards Bay quarry, but there has since been no sign of him.

A missing persons case has been opened at Mtunzini police station, and anyone with information relating to Nhlakanipho’s whereabouts can contact his uncle, Phineas Zungu on 082 6904015 or Crime Stop on 086 0010111.

Maneliswa ‘Mlungu’ Ntombela (4) was kidnapped from his home at uMkhobose Reserve outside eSikhaleni on 21 June.

He was playing with his cousin outside a church service tent next to the KwaMpanza rental cottages at 7pm.

Maneliswa was reportedly taken by two unknown men travelling in a silver double-cab bakkie. They called him by his name.

• The Richards Bay Police is searching for 34 year-old Maritza Pieterse of Meerensee. She was last seen in Richards Bay on 27 March.

She was wearing an oversized blue T-shirt and blue denim.

Maritza is slender, with dark brown hair. Her eyes are brown/green. She weighs about 53kg and is about 1,57m tall.

She has ear piercings and a heart and arrow tattoo.

Procedures
You can assist the police when reporting a missing person by following these steps:

There is no waiting period to report a missing person.
Report a missing person at your nearest police station immediately.
Produce a recent photograph of the missing person if possible.
Give a complete description of the missing person’s last whereabouts, clothes that they were wearing, as well as any information that can assist the investigating officer.
Complete and sign a SAPS 55(A) form.
This form safeguards the SAPS from hoax reports and indemnifies the SAPS to distribute the photograph and information of the missing person.
Obtain the investigating officer’s contact details, and provide any additional information that might become available.
If a missing person is found or returns voluntarily, inform the investigating officer immediately.
A SAPS 92 form must be completed to inform the Bureau of Missing Persons that the missing person’s report can be removed from the circulation system.
