A YOUNG woman accused of abducting an infant at KwaMsane Clinic last Thursday, will remain behind bars until her bail application is heard.

That was the ruling when Bathabile Myeni (28) briefly appeared in the KwaMsane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing a charge of kidnapping.

According to the police, the suspect told the baby’s mother she just wanted to visit her sister in another department, but then disappeared.

The boy’s mother had brought the child to the clinic for immunisation.

The baby was found in good health, taken to the clinic for observation and later handed over to his parents.

The police were conducting an investigation on the disappearance of a four-year-old albino boy from uMkhobosa Reserve in eSikhaleni.
