ESIKHAWINI Magistrate’s Court weekly wrap up, including postponements and June sentences.
Postponements
Ndodo Skizo Mbatha appeared in the District Court facing a murder charge. He was arrested on 19 April and remains in custody until his case resumes on 14 July.
Siyabonga Mbuyazi (31) was arrested on 25 May for robbery with aggravated circumstances. He appeared in court on Thursday and his case was remanded to 26 July. He is out on R2 000 bail.
Bandile Boy Gumbi Mthembu (19) appeared in the District Court facing one count of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, one count of theft and one of housebreaking with intent to steal. He was arrested on 18 February and will remain in custody until the case resumes on 28 July.
Msizi Masinga (18) faces a housebreaking with intent to steal charge. He was arrested on 13 June and his case will resume on 14 July.
Edward Ngwambe (19) appeared in the District Court facing one count of pointing a firearm. He was arrested by eSikhawini SAPS on Wednesday and will appear before court on 7 July.
June sentences
Thulani Mcabangele Ngema (32), charged with rape, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and will serve his time at Qalakabusha Correctional Services Centre in Empangeni.
Een Bongumusa Zibane (25) was sentenced to 6 months in prison for robbery. He will serve his sentence at Qalakabusha.
Thulani Hendry Nxumalo (60) was sentenced to 18 months or a R400 fine for pointing a gun.
Thuthuka Mbatha (35) was sentenced to one year in prison for theft. He will serve his time at Qalakabusha.
Sinothile Alfred Masoka (36) was sentenced to four years in Qalakabuha prison on a culpable homicide charge.
Lucky Nkanyiso Mkhwanazi will serve six months for theft. He will serve his time at Qalakabusha.
