Woman pregnant with twins murdered

Police nabbed the suspect after they traced his whereabouts using the deceased cellphone connections.

A MAN accused of murdering a woman pregnant with twins and fled with a R100 note, a fan and three cellphones, is now behind bars.

Sharp police work has linked Sphamandla Babo Dube (36) to the murder of Lindeni Shamase (26), who was brutally killed inside her home during a robbery at KwaNdaye Reserve in February.

Police nabbed the suspect after they traced his whereabouts using the deceased cellphone connections.

During his arrest, police found the deceased cellphones in his possession and charged him with one count of murder.
Dube appeared in the eSikhawini District Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and his case was remanded until 20 July for further evidence.

It is alleged Dube and his accomplice barged into the deceased house and demanded cash and other belongings before killing the pregnant woman.

According to a police statement by the deceased’s fiance, Thembinkosi Mbomvana Khumalo (41), the couple heard noise outside the house at 9.45pm before they were confronted at gunpoint.

‘I went outside to check, but couldn’t see anything. When I went back into the house two men pointed a gun at me and demanded that I lie down. One stayed with me in the kitchen while the other proceeded to the bedroom where my fiancee was sleeping,’ said Khumalo.

‘I could hear him demanding money from her, but she told him there was only R100 in the house and suddenly I heard three gunshots,’

The grieving father said the one suspect emerged from the bedroom with a fan before they both fled the scene.
The mother of his unborn children sustained gunshots to the head, killing her instantly.

Instead of celebrating the birth of his twins, Khumalo is now mourning the deaths of his family whose lives were snuffed out like a candle.

The suspect remains in custody until the case resumes on 20 July, while his accomplice is still at large.
