Task team to investigate quadruple murder

Gunmen shoot and kill four at traditional cerememony

A PROVINCIAL task team has been assigned to investigate the brutal murders of four people over the weekend.

According to a press release issued by KZN SAPS this morning, the team will focus their attention solely on bringing the suspects in the murders of Steven Khumalo (30), Mthokozisi Khuzwayo (31), Siyanda Khuzwayo (35) and Phumlani Mpungose (40) on Saturday and Sunday in Ndaba near Maphumulo to book.

At approximately 5pm on Saturday afternoon gunmen opened fire at a traditional ceremony, killing two men.

A third died in hospital from his wounds.

At around 4am the following morning, Sunday, another man was shot multiple times while asleep in the same house where the ceremony was held.

KZN SAPS spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said the motive for the killing remained unclear.

‘We are appealing to anyone who might have information about the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the police or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111,’ she said.
