Lost kid finds his nanny

The tiny kid, dubbed 'Kobus', grabbed the headlines after he was discovered lost and bleating at the premises.

AFTER found abandoned at a business premises in Alton last week, a baby goat has been reunited with his mother – thanks to the Zululand Observer.

The tiny kid, dubbed ‘Kobus’ after the owner of the business, grabbed the headlines after he was discovered lost and bleating at the premises.

The SPCA was called and they took the kid into their temporary care.

‘On Thursday the owner of the goat arrived at the SPCA after seeing the story in the newspaper,’ said official Shelly Prinsloo.

‘He claimed the baby goat and I and my colleague Wynand Strauss accompanied him to a kraal close by, behind factories in Alton.

‘When we arrived we heard the mother goat calling for her little one.

‘She would not accept her baby at first as it had human scent on it, but after a while she accepted the baby – after we had sprayed some of her milk on it.

‘The owner was extremely happy that his goat’s baby was found and very grateful to all who assisted in reuniting them.’

‘Kobus’ now plays happily at the kraal with two other kids born in the same week.
