Former Premier Mchunu praised

Mhlongo described the former Premier as a cadre who understood the aims and objective of the ANC as set out in the party's constitution.

THE ANC in Musa Dladla Region has heaped praise on former KZN Premier Senzo Mchunu, for his contribution to the development of the people of the province.

Mchunu resigned as Premier following the recommendation of the ANC Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC).

Addressing the media last week at their Empangeni Offices, ANC Regional Chairperson Nonhle Mkhulisi said Mchunu’s demeanor to adhere to the ANC processes was exemplary of a true ANC cadre, who takes deployment as deployment, and not as a self enrichment scheme or career path.

Mkhulisi said the region was proud to have produced one of the best leaders of the movement in Senzo Mchunu.
‘We wish him the best of luck in his next deployment, as we believe that he still has a lot to offer the people of our country.’

When asked if the decision was welcomed by all ANC members, Mkhulisi said all REC officials had visited the lower structures of the organisation to further cascade this decision accordingly for better comprehension.

‘Decisions such as these have always been taken in the ANC. Our focus now is on winning the Local Government Elections on 3 August.’

Mkhulisi’s sentiments were echoed by Regional Deputy Chairperson Mduduzi Mhlongo.
Mhlongo described the former Premier as a cadre who understood the aims and objective of the ANC as set out in the party’s constitution.

‘What we like about Comrade Senzo is that he is one leader who joined the organisation voluntarily and without motives of material advantage or personal gain.

‘He, like any one of us has placed all his energies and skills at the disposal of the organisation and carried out tasks given to him.’

On Social Media
Regional Secretary Tholi Gwala said his party has noted with concern the misuse of social media by their members, who lambaste each other and hurl insults on the current leadership of the Musa Dladla Region.

He said while social media was an instant tool that can be used to advance democracy and a right to freedom of speech, it must not supersede the right to human dignity.

‘We wish to discourage our members from imitating foreign tendencies of taking to social media when dissatisfied or when their opinions are defeated during internal platforms.

‘We appeal to all our members to exhaust all internal avenues, which we are confident are equal to the task of addressing all issues brought forward,’ he said.
