VANDALS struck some time during Tuesday night, smashing traffic lights at the intersection of Guldengracht and Cent Circle in Richards Bay.

Repairs were effected on the same day, but who did the damage, and why, remain a mystery.

However, one CPF member believes it could be linked to an earlier raid in the adjacent greenbelt, where 11 suspects were arrested and stolen goods were recovered.

The cost to council to repair the vandalism, plant, labour and materials was over R26 000.

Any person observing damage to council property or cable theft can contact the municipal complaints centre on 035 9075000 or 080 0222827.
