EMPANGENI residents are being warned that tap water is possibly contaminated.
They should also not consume the water.
This after a burst water pipe in Hoopoe Street in Nyala Park last night may have caused contamination.
City of uMhlathuze workers fixed the leak last night, but after numerous complaints regarding brown tap water this morning, tests will be done to ascertain whether the leak is the cause or if water in the reservoirs is contaminated.
Ward 9 Councillor Erwin Palmer reiterated that residents should avoid drinking any tap water until the tests are concluded.
