A colossus is rising in Richards Bay

The tallest building in the city is on the rise in Richards Bay

THE tallest building in the city will soon start to grow in the heart of the Richards Bay medical precinct.
With 20 metre-deep pilings already having been sunk, progress above ground will soon be evident at the BMA Medical Centre, which will be directly linked via a 30m long sky bridge to Netcare The Bay Hospital.
The Lira Link structure will comprise doctors’ suites, a sub-acute facility and a day theatre complex.
Some 500 construction workers, including sub-contractors, will be on site, while the completed project will result in 150 permanent employees.
Construction will be demanding and the completion date has been set at the end of 2017.
Developer Ricky Maraj is excited about this and future BMA projects.
‘Over the next two years we will invest about R250-million in the City of uMhlathuze.
‘This includes a 4 000m² upmarket office block in the south precinct of the Richards Bay CBD and a multi-storey residential apartment block in the White Pear area of the CBD.’
