Rotary reaches out

Bay Rotarians share the love

DESPITE today’s tough economic times, the Rotary Club of Richards Bay remains firmly committed to assisting local non-profit organisations, albeit with smaller annual donations.
That was the sentiment of President Chris Valentine when handing over cheques of R4 000 each to Amangwe Village, LifeLine Zululand and Sea Rescue Station 19 last week.
‘Each of these groups does wonderful work in our communities and this is just a small token of our appreciation for their efforts,’ said Valentine.
‘Thanks to events such as our recent music trivia evening, which raised R107 000, we are still in a position to give back.’
In this his last official meeting before handing over the presidency at the end of his term of office, Valentine also had the pleasure of inducting new Rotarians Louis and Jenny le Grange.
Proposed by John MacFarlane, the couple said they had over the past few years become aware of Rotary’s fine accomplishments and were looking to join in the effort, with guidance from existing members.
