Robbers target neighbours

House robbery gang makes quick getaway

ARMED robbers charged into two houses in the same street in Brackenham on Wednesday morning and made a speedy escape with televisions, wallets, jewellery and other valuables.

According to Richards Bay SAPS Communications Officer, Captain Debbie Ferreira the neighbours were targeted at about 10.30am in Via Davallia street.

It is believed the suspects, who had a getaway vehicle on standby, approached the first house, knocked on the door and the woman opened.

They forced themselves into the premises demanded her jewellery and the keys to the safe, stole valuables and then jumped over the fence into the neighbours’ yard where they robbed them as well.

After kicking down the door to the second property, they chased one of the family members through the house.

He managed to escape and seek help and the suspects ran when the panic alarm was set activated.

Capt Ferreira has urged the public to remain on high alert and to keep gates and doors locked at all times.
