Food worth over R800 was also donated towards the animal welfare through this unique initiative.

THE Basement Bar in Meerensee recently offered free plates of potjiekos to all community members who brought a bag of dog food or cash donation in support of the Richards Bay SPCA.

An impressive amount of R2 485 was raised and matched by a generous community member who added a further R3 000 in cash to the total of R5 485.

Food worth over R800 was also donated towards the animal welfare through this unique initiative.

Restaurant Manager Zelda van Wyk said their team was thrilled with the outcome of the event.

‘We thank the community for their support.

‘It is all about giving back and helping our deserving charities.

‘SPCA has always been close to our hearts.

‘We will continue to host initiatives to fund different local non-profits every month.’

SPCA Chairperson Anna-Mare Coetzee said the SPCA team is over the moon with the donation.

‘A huge thank you to the Basement Bar and supporters.

‘We feel truly blessed for the awesome fund-raising event you held in aid of the SPCA and the animals in our care.

‘Not only did we make new friends, enjoyed good music and delicious food, but received desperately needed funds and food that will help us immensely.’
