Truck fraud accused seeks bail

Alleged truck fraud case now estimated at R40-million

A MAN believed to have masterminded a truck fraud scam involving as much as R40-million, is applying for bail in the Richards Bay District Court.
Terrence Govender (33), also known as ‘Titus’, was arrested by Richards Bay detectives after reportedly fleeing from Richards Bay to Durban, to avoid arrest.
He is facing several charges of fraud involving 46 complainants – and counting.
Govender operated from a premises at Ceramic Curve and allegedly deceived people into investing their money into ‘buying trucks’, which they were told would earn them an income of R80 000 per month.
The case was remanded for 19 May when the bail application was set down to continue but the outcome of the application was not known at the time of going to print.
