THE Empangeni SAPS Detectives Unit arrested six suspects recently for four house robberies and two rape cases which happened in eNseleni on 7 April.
The ages of the suspects range between 20 and 28.
Two of the accused appeared at Empangeni Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, charged with three house robberies and the two rapes.
Again on Friday all the defendants appeared at the same court, charged with house robbery and rape.
Three cell phones were recovered in their possession.
According to investigator Detective SB Mnguni one suspect was found hiding in Vryheid, and the other in eShowe.
‘We believe these criminals were operating a syndicate of house robberies, rapes and other crimes in the area, therefore we hope their incarceration will bring peace to the affected communities,’ Mnguni said.
