Hospital raises the soap bar

More than 960 people wash hands at Bay Hospital for World Hand Hygiene Day

LOCALS bubbled with excitement lining up to join a hand-washing relay at Netcare The Bay Hospital, for World Hand Hygiene Day.

Every year, Netcare hosts the event at its hospitals nationwide to raise awareness of the importance of clean hands in reducing the spread of infectious diseases.

In Richards Bay, exactly 963 hospital staff members, patients and members of the public participated throughout the day.

Bay Hospital General Manager Alan Abrahams said they are thrilled with the success of the drive.

‘We would like to thank our hand hygiene and washing committee and all the community members who took part in the relay.

‘We look forward to doing this again next year!’
