THERE was great joy when the KZN Legislature arrived at the Mabhensa community hall on Wednesday with 16 wheelchairs and 50 food parcels for deserving Ward 5 Ntambanana residents.
Mabhensa area has one of the poorest communities in the district, with a recorded 49% of families being child-headed households.
According to Ward 5 Cllr ZZ Xulu, there are more than 100 disabled people living in the ward.
Highlighting the services offered at Ngwelezana Hospital, B Mabaso said people from rural areas don’t know about these services, therefore most end up with debilitating illnesses, something which might have been prevented had they been aware.
