A WOMAN and her child have escaped serious injury after being attacked at their home in uMhlathuze Village, Empangeni, on Saturday night.
It it believed a man forced his way into the house and opened fire on his fiancé and child, who is reportedly no older than two.
The woman was shot three times in the chest, and the child a single time in the head.
Both were rushed to hospital and have survived their injuries. The child was discharged from Ngwelezana Hospital on Wednesday.
Police are uncertain of the suspect’s motives, and he remains at large.
Both mother and child have been moved to a safe location pending police investigation.
