New blood for Hospice

Zululand Hospice Association welcomes new members to the Hospice House in Empangeni

FOR decades providing comfort, care, compassion and counselling to people in need, the Zululand Hospice Association continues to lend a helping hand in the community.

To help meet the heavy demands on its services, Empangeni Hospice House recently welcomed new members to the family.

Tatum Bristow has already settled into her role as the new Public Relations Officer.

Well known in the community, Tatum is eager to inform people of the work that Hospice does and how much of an influence it has on the community.

‘Many people forget that we do more than just provide assistance in the form of donations,’ said Tatum.

‘We assist with counselling for those suffering from critical or terminal illnesses and teach family members how to care for their ill loved ones.’

Inspired by Hospice, Tatum hopes to spread the message of hope and positivity.

Finance Officer

Tatum was soon joined by new Finance Officer Vanessa Patterson, who is also well known in the community and has had peripheral involvement with other non-profit organisations.

‘People forget that everything is based on donations when it comes to NPOs, but Hospice continues to offer much needed care in the form of medical, nutritional, emotional and physical assistance to those with dire needs,’ said Vanessa.

Vanessa and Tatum were also joined by Receptionist Snenhlanhla Mkhize and Maintenance Officer Jabulani Msweli who are looking forward to contributing towards the association.
