A church celebratory outing ended in tragedy when two young boys drowned in the Bay Hall area earlier this afternoon.

As the sun set, police divers and an NSRI crew were still searching for the bodies of the boys, believed to be aged 10 and 12.

According to the NSRI, they and another youngster had walked out towards a pink buoy about 40 metres from the road leading to Pelican Island.

The victims encountered a sudden drop and disappeared from sight.

Pelican Island and other nearby areas have in recent months seen a number of drowning incidents under similar circumstances.
