THE cream of the crop in the teaching field were acknowledged at the annual Department of Basic Education’s National Teacher Awards function held in eSikhaleni on Thursday.
Bay Primary teachers J Naicken and S Nathan received first and second prizes respectively in the provincial ‘Excellence in Primary School Teaching’ category.
This was a first for both women who were nominated for the awards by their colleagues.
The two teachers have a combined 43 years teaching experience and are passionate about education.
They agreed that the awards process was an excellent learning experience. They found the series of interviews, workshops and networking with other teachers highly beneficial.
