Grisly discovery by hunting boys

A sangoma's decomposed body discovered in a KwaDlangezwa forest

HUMAN remains were recovered in a forest outside KwaDlangezwa on Friday morning.

A group of young boys hunting at Mthintombi Forest had the fright of their lives when they stumbled upon a decomposed body.

They immediately informed the Mtunzini police who swiftly attended to the scene.

Police spokesperson Lt Sibusiso Guma said DNA tests still need to be conducted to determined the body’s identity, but police believe it might belongs to a 49-year-old sangoma, Ngangabantu Mzimela.

Mzimela disappeared from his home in the Mthintombi area on 7 February.

His family reported the matter to the police a few days later.

Following the gruesome discovery, Mzimela’s family was called to the scene on Friday.

According to Guma, they confirmed the body belonged to their relative as they identified the sangoma attire he was wearing on the day he went missing.’

Guma said a full inquiry is underway and the forensics team will investigate the cause of death.

‘At this stage we don’t know when we would release the remains to the family to conduct a proper burial,’ said Guma.
