TWO people travelling from Empangeni to Durban have died in a crash involving a bakkie and a car on the N2 between Zinkwazi and Stanger, leaving three more injured.
The deceased were travelling in a silver Toyota Yaris along with three others.
‘Two of the occupants of the car were seriously injured while the third is critical,’ said Operations Manager for IPSS Medical Rescue, Paul Herbst.
Reports from the scene indicate that the bakkie was a blue-light escort vehicle for a high ranking political official and the point of impact is on the ‘wrong side of the road’.
Further reports claim that the official left the scene minutes after the accident occurred, before emergency services arrived.
The occupants of the escort vehicle were not seriously injured.
