Empowering small businesses

Umlalazi Municipality promotes economic growth and empowered small businesses with trading stalls in eShowe on Sunday

TO promote economic development and growth, the uMlalazi Municipality and the KZN MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mike Mabuyakhulu, donated 42 trading stalls to small businesses in eShowe on Sunday.

Structures were handed over to beneficiaries who were exposed to the elements at the town’s taxi rank.

The aim is to assist informal traders with a proper business environment and to provide continuous support towards their development and growth.

In his address, uMlalazi Mayor Cllr Thelumoya Zulu emphasised the importance of legal trading and encouraged recipients to go back to farming.

‘People must form cooperatives and farm, the drought is only temporary and will soon subside. Lets promote local fresh produce and ensure traders make business,’ he said.
