Municipality opens doors for students

College students offered internship opportunities

SIX uMfolozi Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College Transport and Logistics students have been offered on-the-job training opportunities at the uMhlathuze Municipality.

The municipality will be hosting the six students on its Work Integrated Learning programme for a year, which will increase their chances of finding employment.

One of the beneficiaries, Njabulo Manqele, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and said this was a dream come true for him.

He undertook to excel in whatever task he is given and has high hopes his internship will lead to permanent employment.

His day-to-day duties include preparing requisitions, handling customer queries, processing orders, service plans and vehicle job cards.

‘I am learning a lot, especially about vehicle tracking and fleet management procedures.

‘My advice to other students is to always wish it, dream it and do it,’ he added.

uMfolozi TVET College Work Placement Officer Zamalatha Mngoma commended the Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) for providing funding towards the programme.
