UPDATE: Power outage postpone child rape case

Ten molested boys still undergoing trauma counselling

WITH eSikhaleni left in the dark after an explosion at the township’s power station, the case of four teenagers accused of molesting ten young young boys was postponed to 15 March on Wednesday.

Accused aged between 15 and 19 appeared briefly before the eSikhawini Magistrate’s Court facing assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and compelled rape charges.

They apparently terrorised and brutally whipped young boys at Injunga dam in uMkhobose area. It also emerged that they also ordered them to strip naked before molesting and forcing them to have sexual intercourse with each other.

They were arrested two days after the incident, after they were identified in a video which circulated on various social networks.

According to Lt Colonel Makhosi Ncube of Empangeni Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS), all victims are still undergoing counselling at Zululand Mental Health.

Two older suspects will remain at eSikhaleni police holding cells and the other two were transported to Elsier Place of Safety in Pine Town until the case resumes next month.
