Rotary tackles a new year

Rotary Club of Empangeni has remained in top form as they share their generosity with community members in need.

LOCAL non-profit organisations have felt the brunt of financial difficulties over the last year as they do everything in their power to bring in crucial funds.

But despite the ongoing challenge, the Rotary Club of Empangeni has remained in top form as they share their generosity with community members in need.

While their assistance does not always include financial donations, members and non-members have given of their time and effort to assist in serving the community.

Among the many tasks taken on by the Club, many saw people in need receiving a number of much needed items such as food parcels, wheelchairs, dictionaries, bicycles and more.

To ensure a steady flow of funds, a Connection Ride, Music Trivia evening and Swimarathon for Polio, to name just a few, were hosted.

As a result, the ongoing projects run by the Club, such as the Early Childhood Development, Water Tank project and Bicycles for Humanity, were able to continue without a hitch.

Members and friends of Rotary also got involved in the three days of Rotary Family Health Day during which over 533 patients were seen to, helped with medication and received referrals.

Moving forward

Over the next six months, Rotary plans on tackling a number of much needed projects.

These include the completion of the Water Tank project in various drought stricken areas, furnish the much needed resources for the Zululand Remedial Centre, host the Rotary/Daily News Team talk and continue with the successful Rotary Youth exchange programme which sees young Rotary members from abroad make their way to SA for a life changing experience.
