Empangeni court sentences man who raped, impregnated niece
A man who raped and impregnated his 16-year-old niece in Ntambanana, has received a life sentence
THE Empangeni Regional Court sentenced the 29-year-old on Monday, Major Thulani Zwane said.
The man raped her in September 2013, while she was home watching television. He lived in the same homestead. He threatened her not to tell anyone.
The next year, her mother noticed that she was sleeping a lot and looking tired.
“She was asked about these changes in her life and that was when she told her mother that she was pregnant. The victim told her mother that her uncle impregnated her.”
They opened a case of rape at the Ntambanana police station. The Empangeni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit investigated and arrested the man.
The identity of the rapist has been withheld due to the fact that he is related to a victim of a sexual crime.
