Eskom warns of recruitment scam

Job sellers are again at work, this time promising jobs at Eskom for R1 500

A PRESS release posted to Eskom’s website has warned job seekers not to fall victim to agents posing as Eskom recruiters.

‘The fraudsters pretend to be recruiters for Eskom and solicit R1 500 from job seekers in order to secure employment,’ read the post.

‘Once payment is received by the ‘recruiters’, would be employees are then directed to report the main security entrance or reception area of an Eskom building, only to find there are no vacancies and the supposed agent has also disappeared.’

Eskom has urged the general public not to engage with anyone claiming to be an Eskom recruitment agent, especially if the person requests payment.

All employment opportunities at Eskom would only be advertised here.

They are also asking for anyone who has been affected to report these and other incidents of fraud, corruption and irregularities to Eskom by calling the toll-free line on 0800 112722 or send an e-mail to investigate@eskom.co.za.
