Mbazwana cop and security guard shot dead
28-year-old police official and a 40-year-old security officer were killed last night (Wednesday)
LAST night (Wednesday), a Mbazwana police officer together with private security officers responded to a tip-off regarding a suspect wanted for three counts of carjacking.
Upon arrival of the scene at Vimbukhalo area, the suspect opened fire killing both the 28-year-old cop and 40-year-old security officer.
A second security officer sustained gunshot wounds to the thigh and was taken to hospital for medical attention where he is reported to be in a critical but stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene in the police vehicle taking with him the three firearms.
The vehicle was found 10km’s from the scene and had been set alight.
Charges of murder, attempted murder, malicious damage to property and theft of firearm have been opened.
