THE second annual Cansa uThungulu/Zululand Observer ‘PSA Challenge’ was accepted by more than 20 local men who lined up at the Boardwalk Inkwazi shopping centre on Saturday morning for screening.

Sr Sane Mahlangu was kept busy taking the blood samples that will now be examined in laboratories.

Any abnormalities found in the PSA (prostate-specific antigen) tests will be referred to medical professionals.

Also hard at work on the day were Cansa uThungulu Community Mobiliser, Lizelle van Zyl and DJ Marissa Jones, who kept up a steady flow of music in between exhorting male shoppers to take the test.

Cancer survivor, young volunteer Marnique Venter was present to add some colour to heads as the month of Movember drew to a close.

The challenge is a Zululand Observer initiative which it is hoped will spread to other Cansa centres in the country on the last Saturday of November, which is dedicated to highlighting male cancers.
