Senior citizens robbed in Arboretum

A 62-year-old man and his 85-year-old mother were tied up by burglars in Richards Bay.

A MAN and his 85-year-old mother are still recovering from shock after three robbers charged into their Arboretum home at 11am on Sunday.

The intruders assaulted the man before tying up both victims.

They then stole household goods and fled in the homeowner’s red Tata Indica.

Richards Bay police said the man sustained minor injuries, but his mother was left untouched.

Police are still looking for the suspects and the vehicle with registration number NRB 46907.

‘We urge anyone with information on this case to contact W/O Riaan Klopper on 035 9012419,’ said Richards Bay SAPS spokesperson Captain Debbie Ferreira.

‘It is also crucial for residents to be warned that with the festive season approaching, it is peak crime time.

‘Please take extra caution to secure your homes. Keep doors, windows and gates locked at all times.’
