69-year-old man struck by lightning
A pensioner died during a storm in Ncekwane near Mtunzini.
A NCEKWANE man was struck by lightning while attending a function on Sunday afternoon.
Police responded to the emergency call just outside Mtunzini at about 3.30pm. The 69-year-old man was declared dead at the scene.
In a separate incident, a young man from eNkonjeni Reserve in KwaDlangezwa was found hanging in his room in the early hours of yesterday.
Senzo Gumede (27) was found at the Makhathini homestead just after 3am.
‘Police attended to the scene, however, there was no suicide note in the room. An inquest was opened and the investigation is underway to ensure the incident was not murder,’ said spokesperson Lt Sibusiso Guma.
