Hlabisa man hacked to death

Hlabisa community protest against bail for murder accused.

FOUR men allegedly connected to a gruesome murder in Hlabisa appeared in court today

A mob of fed-up community members protested outside the Hlabisa Magistrate’s, opposing bail for the killers of Sabelo Jiyane (28).

He died on Sunday morning and police arrested three suspects aged between 22 and 30 years yesterday.

It is believed two groups of men from different areas of the Hlabisa Village got into a fight.

During the altercation, one man pulled out a bush knife from his coat and hacked Jiyane to death.

The suspects fled the scene.

The victim sustained head injuries and died on the scene. Hours after the attack, police arrested the three men.

The case was postponed until tomorrow and the men remanded into custody.
