Empangeni police recover 26 -ton excavator stolen in Pinetown

EMPANGENI police have recovered a 26-ton, four metre high Terex excavator worth nearly R1-million that was reportedly stolen in Pinetown in June 2015.

According to a statement issued by police spokesperson Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, the excavator was found at Mfolozi Hardware after a complainant identified it.

‘Police are investigating a case of theft and the culprit will be arrested soon,’ he said.

‘On the other hand, police are also investigating a possible dispute between the two parties.’

Despite conflicting reports, the investigating officers have vowed to keep digging until they get to the bottom of the dispute.
