Man trapped after construction site fall
UPDATE: The man has been transported to Victoria Hospital.
A CONSTRUCTION worker is in a critical condition after falling down a concrete pipe at the Tugela Bulk Water construction site in Mandeni.
According to reports the man fell nearly 10m and is currently trapped in the pipe.
IPSS Medical Rescue are on scene.
An Advanced Life Support paramedic is stabilising the patient, while IPSS rescue techs work to extricate him.
The rescue team are planning to use a crane to raise him out of the pipeline.
UPDATE:
The man sustained head injuries and multiple fractures in the accident.
According to an IPSS spokesperson, the man was transported to the Victoria Hospital in Stanger where his injuries were assessed and treated.
