No fingerprints, no forensic report sees man set free

His bail hearing could not proceed after he refused to have his fingerprints taken.

DRUG charges against a Nigerian man were withdrawn in the Richards Bay District Court.

Emanuel Ojeri (23), now residing at Mandlazini Reserve, appeared in court on charges of possession of two pieces of whoonga on 6 August.

His bail hearing could not proceed after he refused to have his fingerprints taken and the investigating officer could not establish previous convictions.

Ojeri came into the country illegally.

He was also ordered by court to provide his fingerprints.

The matter was postponed twice for the forensic analysis report of the substance.

On Friday, the State applied for a further remand because the forensic report was still not available.

The defense objected and the State had to withdraw the charges.
